| A Personal Note From Will |
|
I got my first Civil War sword when I was 8 years old. It had been passed down from father to son since the end of the war in 1865. It took me 25 more years to know what I had! That knowledge initiated a lifelong thirst that I want you to feel. Enjoy the course and hopefully your love of the era will stay with you as long as it has with me.

| Auction prices vs. fixed prices |
| Auction prices are not solid indicators of fair market value of anything. As a rule, items either sell for much more or much less what they are really "worth." Many factors affect auction prices, especially when telephone or "left bids" or families are involved in the process--and bidding on family heirlooms. |
