Title: Antique 106 Piece Heinrich China Set
WhatsItWorthToYou.com
Date/Era/Period: 1930-1939
WhatsItWorthToYou.com
Description: This china set is supposed to be over 100 years old and I believe is retired. There is some wear on some of the dishes but for the most part seem to be in good shape considering. I recently bought this set from a lady who received it from her aunt who originally bought it. She did not want to use it due to the gold and the age. The china set is mostly Heinrich, but though the design is the same on all the dishes some of the cups and plates have different markings which I attached. The dinner plate is 10 3/4". There is a total of 106 pieces (including 20 individual salt shakers). 12 dinner plates, 11 saucers, 11 dessert bowls, 8 cups, 13 salad plates, 12 soup bowls, 12 dessert plates, 7 large serving dishes and bowls and 20 salt & pepper shakers.

Appraiser Comments: The company began as Henrich & Co In Selb, Bavaria making table and decorative porcelain. In 1970 it became Heinrich Porzellan GMBH.

This mark dates from 1930-1939 (found in "Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain 1710 to the Present" by Robert E. Rontgen. This is the most comprehensive mark and company guide for porcelain from this part of the world).

Bavarian porcelain is considered to be some of the highest quality available. There have been many companies operating in the area, including the renowned Meissen, as well as Rosenthal and other great companies for the last 200 or so years. Naturally, the maker has a high part in determining the value of items, but also materials and quality of workmanship as well as overall desirablility of the items are taken into consideration.

Because everyone had large dinner sets "in the old days" but nowadays with our casual lifestyles, we don't entertain as much, these sets are not in as much demand as they were in the past which drives resale values downwards. However, the completeness of your set, as well as it's strong visual appeal help the value.
