| Title: | Antique Dentist/Barber Chair | |
| Description: | This is an old piece that was given to me by a friend. Looks like oak, has a little adjustable head rest and the back rest is also reclinable. The label, which is white on white, says Aristocrat on the lower back side of chair. | |
| Grade: | Fine | |
| Condition: | It does have a tear in the leather (not real leather) seat in the front. The rest seems in good condition. | |
| Origin: | Pennsylvania, I think. | |

| Appraiser Comments: | Hello- Your chair, is indeed,a dentist's chair, manfuactured by Aristocrat in the very early 1900's. The wood, from your picture, does appear to be oak and this the wood I'm using for this appraisal. From appearances,it is in all original condition, leather, wood finish and has been untouched. This is good. The style of the chair is called Mission, which was popular in the early 1900's during the Arts & Crafts Movement. Today, Mission style furniture is very collectible. To confirm my appraisal, I spoke with the Professor of Dentistry, who is the curator of the Dental Museum at the State University of New York at Buffalo. |
